Pretty in Pink: The Flower Power!

Pretty in Pink: The Flower Power!
Hey Divas!
A woman’s heart is like a flower: fresh, breezy, inviting, and always making space for someone who wants to be in it. The elements she carries breeze around and makes the best of what they are: subtle, soft, mellow, yet wild enough to burn you all at once.
This outfit from Shein.com is a reminder of the the above said things, with the botanical elements
and sheer love, the base colour brings the pink out of you, for you reflect what you see.

How are my favourite people in the world doing? I have been thinking about you, and I wanted to bring the best to the table, hence took a sabbatical from work for some time and came up with this. Yes, I took some time off from everything, only to be brought back to the best of what I have, so as to bring the best to you guys. I read a lot, inculcated the habit of writing, and that helped.

Shein.com has a lot of affordable choices to choose from, they are stylish, chic and they bring something different to the table, as they have connected a lot of brands under one single umbrella.

I decided to style it simple, this one, as it didn’t need much. But even Cinderella wanted pretty shoes, so I paired it up with my pink pumps. And the bag, well, I chose to keep it subtle to balance the pink, with a beige bag (well, it does have a coral lining, but that’s my silver lining) from FabAlley. By the by, FabAlley has come up with a new brand for ethnic wear, called Indya, and their carefully curated deigns are what a modern mind needs.

Outfit: Shein.com
Bag: FabAlley
Watch: Daniel Wellington

Location: Royal Brewmen

The location I chose is one of my favourite places, and since we are looking for a little magic, I decided to colour my fairy dust pink. Do check out the websites to shop your favourite pick.
Also, I bring a present for you. Visit Shein.com, and if you like something you wish to own, use the code chic20 to avail a whopping 20% discount for shopping above $59 in the plus size category.
Until Next Time,

Hello Divas!

Try reading This one as a rap-poetry:

So I experimented with my looks a bit and tried going Kardashian – for once,
And put on a tracksuit just for leisure – they called atheleisure.
And I put on some make-up, a fancy backpack, and yeah some glare – and LO!
I got myself a pre-mature cougar.
Not the cat, but the real, human cougar,
that rhymes with sugar if I think of it.

Kardashians, or Jenners I don’t care I like em both.
They are famous they are strong one big whole family
People may see them differently for what I choose to ignore
For others, all I wish to say is keep up!

I like how pink this track dress is,
and how the zippers go down and up- its a catch
The top I threw in just for fun
My shoes and bag: Oh they so match!

CurvyDivaChic thanks StalkBuyLove
For they have things for leisure
I experimented a lot with my looks on this one
Working with you was truly a Pleasure!

My team Aman, Sourabh and Saba

Featured in “The Hindu”

Featured in “The Hindu”

Hello Divas!
I am excited to share with you that my interview got featured in the Monday edition of “The Hindu”. Yes, the copy of the print version of 19 Feb 2018 has your Curvy Diva Chic, as herself, Aakanksha Luthra in it!
All this time of writing articles lead to one thing I had never thought would happen: being written about, and that too in the most respected newspapers of this country! I feel honoured, happy, excited and thankful.
I remember calling my father up as soon as I got off the phone with Sunalini Matthew, sharing with him the news, “Dad! I think I am gonna be in The Hindu.” Dad initially thought I am going to write for the newspaper, he congratulated me. Later I explained how I was interviewed today and will be featured soon.
Yesterday, we were descending the stairs and he asked me “So, when is this article going to be out?” I just said “I don’t know, maybe this week, or on Woman’s Day. I will confirm with Sunalini today.” I got excited about the fact that I am going to be featured, that I completely forgot to ask when it is going to be published! I just mailed Sunalini and asking about the publishing date, and she immediately responded with “Today!”.
I was still at the office, she was kind enough to send me the online link and the PDF of the page. It was my celebrity moment and I feel amazing.
Well, none of this would have happened without your support and love. Cheers to you guys!!!

The Right Shade Of Red

The Right Shade Of Red

There is a red made for every woman, and a woman who knows her red, ain’t supposed to be messed with. If I were a color, I know I’d be red. I am a Ruby Woo on my lips, Merlot for my hair, crimson on my feet and I know for a fact that I am Marcella on my Gowns.

Dress: CurvesOnStyle
Location: Khama Ghani
Clutch: IGP

The people who know me closely know one thing about me, I love Adele. She is my lady crush, someone I look up to, I believe it was her who made me fall for fashion for the plus in the first place. it all started when I first saw her ever famous Albert Hall Concert on YouTube (“Set Fire to the Rain” is still my favorite).

The idea for this outfit started had seeded in the moment when I had watched Adele online in a concert where she was wearing this beautiful Marcella gown and was performing in front of thousands of fans. As I have mentioned earlier, Kritika (owner, CurvesOnStyle) and I have had long conversations before finalizing the outfits for me.
We discussed how I wanted a Marcella off-shoulder gown, with a free long flow skirt that’d make me wanna twirl. And it did make me wanna twirl, all the time, during the shoot, as you may see in the pictures. Now I didn’t want my skirt too fluffy, so we didn’t use a can-can here, but one may totally use it under the skirt, to add that princess fluff to the gown.
The best part about this outfit was that it was so light-weight I loved it. The outfit is fully lined and simply pretty. CurvesOnStyle paid particular attention to the color and fall of the skirt, something I wanted specifically right.
The place we chose here was a beautiful restaurant in Udaipur called Khama Ghani. This place is the perfect blend of hospitality and ambiance. And the food? Well, it was amazing!
It was a fun shoot, I had a great time. I felt so pretty in this dress, and I couldn’t help twirl most of the time. CurvesOnStyle was really helpful designing this outfit for me.
If you like this blog, give it a big thumbs-up! Aso, show me some love and subscribe to my blog, if you want to say something, do share your views in the comment box below. I promise to respond as soon as I see it.
This year is all about creating your own story. Your CurvyDivaChic has always got your back! Stay Loved!

I have reached the point in time where I am finally comfortable in the skin I am in but that wasn’t always the case. This not only resulted in a low self-esteem but also kept me away from discovering my style as well. For a very long time in my life, I did not wear skirts. Sometimes due to social obstructions, sometimes due to my own mental inhibitions. But I have always admired long, flared skirts that trail behind your legs, especially the low high maxi skirts.

Well, I couldn’t understand the attraction, but I realized this is one part of my personality I need to embrace. So one fine day, I decided to get over my mental obstruction just got one for myself. I am a huge fan of Pinterest, and learning cello has been on my bucket list. So one day I was googling about cellos, and I came accidentally landed on a page with very beautiful styling pins for cellists. I funnily was reminded of Master Oogway’s statement from “Kungfu Panda” that said: There are no accidents. I believe the man was right!
I came across a beautiful ensemble of a plain white tucked in shirt and a wide belted high-waisted floor-length skirt. The collar was tastefully lifted just right, and the lights were perfect in the picture.
That’s when it hit me, I got my inspiration for an outfit. All I needed was a designer who’d do the same for me. Lucky for me, I learned about CurvesOnStyle on Instagram. Kritika is a fashion designer based out of NCR (Faridabad) and boy is she amazing! I called her up and we had a long discussion on how I wanted my designs to be. She was very patient and great at visualizing my ideas. We had a detailed discussion about what would suit my body type, what materials should I wear that would be comfortable and look chic at the same time. She also designed the shirt, which is lined, so I don’t have to worry about it to go see through.
I absolutely loved what I received, I had a lot of fun at the shoot as well. I wore the outfit to work one day and people loved it. The location chosen for this shoot is this beautiful cafe called Cafe lazy Beans. The place has hand-painted pictures of characters of pandas. I am a fan of the wall with all the beautiful frames.
Dress: Curves On Style
Location: Cafe Lazy Beans
Shoes: Street Style Store
Clutch: Espelho

Fashion for the curvy is a bit more complicated than the normal sizes as each one of us have our own problem areas. CurvesOnStyle not only designed this beautiful ensemble but also helped me learn more about my body type, and what would look better on me. Her Instagram page displays her couture work and the designs are so chic.

Merry Christmas Udaipur! For those searching for their haven of Comfort Food, there’s a new haven in Udaipur, and I couldn’t wait to share it with you. Giddy up! We have Marky Momos is in town! Finally a place to comfort those comfort food cravings. I am going to share a couple of reasons why I am in love with Marky Momos.

Food: My Favoite Picks

  • Momos: Being a food connoisseur, finding a decent place in Udaipur that actually serves dim-sums in the authentic Bamboo Dim-Sum Steamers, just the way they should be served, is a real struggle. Finally, we have Marky Momos. But this is not This is not it. They have more than 40 varieties of momos to choose from. My personal favourite are Afghani Momos and Tandoori Chicken Momos. #Yum

They also have something interesting called Momo Burgers, which consists of fried momos in buns, with a tasteful combination of sauces. My brother loved it.

  • Prawns: All the seafood lovers in Udaipur know the struggle of finding prawns on the menu. Marky Momos has some mouth watering prawn preparations to choose from. My personal favorite is Honey Garlic Prawns . #MamaMia

  • Noodles: I am “Hands Down!” a disciple of their Hakka Noodles. The noodles are perfectly cooked, the salt and pepper ratio is perfectly balanced (this is very important for me while choosing my noodle, and I am quite particular about it). #Meow

Take Away and Home Delivery

Yes! Marky Momos delivers to your house! And they have their own app as well! They are amongst a very restaurants which delivers to the far-fetched areas like Badi, Balicha etc. They also have started a “late night service”, under which they cater to your late night cravings between 12:00 a.m and 2:00 a.m. The food packaging is proper, which is a novelty in Udaipur for budget-friendly restaurants. They have branded their packaging containers. I am particularly a fan of their Dimsum Packaging (it is properly sealed and microwave friendly).

Multi Cuisine Menu

Do not get confused by their name. Marky Momos might just be the name, but they serve a lot more than just Momos. They have a well established menus that covers cuisines of the likes of Chinese, Italian and Indianised tastes. There indeed is something for everybody.

Hello Divas!

New Year’s Eve 2017- the most awaited event of the year is around the corner and like always, I bring exciting news! Ladies! Brace yourself because Afamado has come up with an awesome All Black RSVP Ready Collection for your themed party. New year is around the corner and this is probably the right time to choose your New Year’s outfit. Use their “Made to Measure” feature and Afamado will make sure that the outfit fits like a glove.

I am wearing the V-Neck Cold Shoulder gown and might I just flaunt that I feel really plush in this beautiful gown? The cold shoulder details with an extra ruffle layer not only looks beautiful, but also adds to the comfort. Above that, the material is of high quality and is wrinkle free, so you do not have to worry about any last minute ironing hassles and enjoy your evening. Plus the dress feels the right weight so it flares just perfect, and doesn’t feel heavy at all. So the dancer in me is oh-so-happy because this is a no brainer, effortless look to pull off. Minimal and chic is how I kept it. One thing I loved about the fashion of 2017 is, the only rule is that there are no rules!

So my resolution for 2018 is what I have learned from this wonderful 2017. The only rule is that there are no rules! So let’s dress our best, pop the bubbly, clench the glasses and Slanche!  Bid adieu to this wonderful year you had and let’s begin a new one with more celebrations!

Until Next Time,

How to Dress Up for Business Meetings?

How to Dress Up for Business Meetings?

Hello Divas!
How are my favourite ladies doing?
So a lot of You have ask me quick tips on how to dress up on business meetings and other formal work events, where you can look chic, get effortless and business ready at the same time. So I am here to talk about it.

I recently had to attend this event which was super formal. I was on a clock that day,  it was a very busy day and I wanted to look my best because there was a very important business meeting just after that and since I was running short on time, on occasions like these, I usually prefer to wear something I don’t have to put in a lot of effort mixing and matching. So a formal maxi dress was my first preference. I narrowed down to this gorgeous cotton gown I got designed from Samshek. Not only it was super comfortable it was chic light and very, very easy to carry. It was a hot day and that’s when the material that was cotton came in very handy. The design is very simple and that somehow made the entire look very polished and that’s what I loved about this business formal maxi dress.

Samshek gives you the freedom to actually tweak the basic design on the website as per your needs. So if you are someone like me who doesn’t like to wear stuff off the rack, this is actually a very good opportunity for you to tweak the basic design on the website, choose from the many, many things you can change in your outfit and make a whole new one. I was surprised to see how simple changes like sleeve length, length of the dress, shape of the neck and back etc can transfer the entire dress. You may check this blog post for a whole new look to this very design. Not just this, Samshek gives you the liberty to choose from their list of materials too. #Wow

I chose this design as such, with a minor increase in length. I loved the subtle grey, hence I kept the details as such in the website. The dress comes with a side zipper to give your curves a better shape  I take the dress with the Turquoise blazer I got from stalkbuylove started off very sophisticated touch to my entire outfit. The shoes I chose word basic Clark’s stilletos (Clifton Bridge) they have never failed me.

No talking about the meeting it went well it was a sunny day like I said but since I chose since I choose the right fabric to wear it helped me focus on my work endless on the discomfort of the day. Also I kept the jewellery minimal it was this Emerald set my father got from me from USA. The lipstick I am wearing is from Maybelline,  the eyeliner is NYX, the mascara is again Maybelline, the blush is from the Body Shop.

When you are dressed right, you develop a sense of confidence in you that adds to your work without you realising it. I read it somewhere “nobody really has confidence this is all a game of projecting it at the right time and at the right place”. A lot of people ask me how I keep up my confidence I believe I just answered your question. And of course I like to dress well.

Photography for this blog was done by Ravish Nagori. The editing was done by me.

Maleficent in Me

Maleficent in Me

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

I love fairy tales. I have grown up hearing about those fantasy worlds, the beautiful, beautiful girls, who weren’t even aware how amazing they are, who stood by what they believed in. They came from  humble backgrounds and proved that money or birth has nothing to do with being a true princess. Cinderella was humble, Bella was wise and curious, Moana was an explorer, Pocahontas was a born leader. But the most iconic character who laid a huge impact on my mind, was Maleficent. I am not sure whether it was Angeline Jolie’s perfection as an actress and a role model, or the character’s depth, or the direction of the movie, or the combination of all, but I could see myself as a Maleficent. And that’s why I decided to keep it as the theme of my this photoshoot.

Mystique as it could be, I adore Maleficent.

Before I could ever know, I was Maleficent.
Love the off shoulder details and the cape.
The choker was a hand made present by a beloved friend. what do you think?
I love the fact that my watch matches with my outfit, like it was meant to be.
Thus I walk down the aisle, as I was supposed to do.
This is me, thanking Afamado, for the lovely design.

I saw this piece at Afamado and it was a love at first sight. I wanted one when I saw the Rebel Wilson in one of the award function shoots on google and I fell in love with this piece. (Needless to say, for plus size fashion, Adele and Rebel Wilson are my go to celebrity inspirations.) The quality speaks for itself, and the best part is that long cape with off shoulder details. It was oh so beautiful I couldn’t ask for more.

The design of this dress is bold, something you will need a lot of confidence and sass to carry, but if you are thinking “who the hell she thinks she is”, well, I’d say “someone who wanted you to ask the exact same question”. The best part about this outfit? Well, the cape! it shows off your curves yet hides the problem areas at the same time. The shoot was pretty interesting, and the pictures are right in front of you. So if you are looking for something to flaunt your curves to perfection, do check Afamado and sass that body!

Until Next Time,
-XOXO-
